Mt. Zion – Lewis M. Creighton, 89 of Shelbyville, IL formerly of Mt. Zion, IL passed away at 6:02 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in Shelbyville Memorial Hospital, Shelbyville.

A service to celebrate Lewis’s life will be at 12:00 Noon Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Sunset Hills Funeral Home Chapel, 50 Fountain Drive, Glen Carbon, IL.  Burial will be in Sunset Hills Cemetery with full military honors.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion and one hour prior to services on Saturday at Sunset Hills Funeral Home Chapel.   Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Illinois Chapter or the Mt. Lewis was born December 27, 1921 in Madison, IL the son of Dewey M. and Myrtle (Hudson) Crayton.  He married Loraine Fogle on July 23, 1944.  She preceded him in death on March 18, 2001.  He was a W.W. II Army Air Corp Veteran.  He was a retired welding supervisor from American car Foundry in St. Louis, MO.  He was a former member of the Madison United Methodist Church.  Lewis also had a passion for woodworking.

Surviving is his daughter: Carol Smith and her husband Jim of Mt. Zion, IL; grandson: Patrick Smith and his wife Courtney of Morton, IL; granddaughter: Carrie Smith of Mt. Zion, IL; sisters: Sylvia Winters and her husband Jim of Granite City, Il and Doris Schmidtt of Granite City, IL.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Henry and infant sister Charlotte.
